Shopping

Shops are usually open from 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning till 6:00 or 7:00 in the evening. Large shops don't close for lunch. Some large departments stores stay open till 8:00 on Thursdays and Fridays Late Night Shopping. Many shops in town centres now open on Sundays, too.

Large supermarkets also stay open on Sundays (from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm) and some are open 24 hours on Fridays and the last days before Christmas. And there is a chain of small local stores, called 7-Eleven stores, where you can buy food 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Eating, drinking and having fun

British restaurants close early (about 10:00) but Indian, Chinese and other foreign restaurants normally stay open till after midnight. There are also some American-style snack bars or diners that never close.

Pubs clos at 11:00 pm but clubs stay open till 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning.

Changing money

Visitors can change money at banks, Foreign Exchange Offices, and at some automatic cash dispensers. Banks are usually open from 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning to 4:30 or 5:00 in the afternoon on weekdays. Some branches in city centres or shopping centres are also open on Saturday mornings.

Foreign Exchange Offices at airports are usually open at all time. Those in city centres stay open till late at night.

Fare acquisti:

I negozi in genere sono aperti dalle 9:00 o le 10:00  fino alle 18:00 o le 19:00, ma quelli più grandi non chiudono all'ora di pranzo. Alcuni grandi magazzini rimangono aperti fino alle 20:00 il giovedì e il venerdì e molti negozi nel centro della città sono aperti anche di domenica.

Anche i grandi supermercati rimangono aperti la domenica (dalle 10:00 alle 16:00) e alcuni di essi sono aperti 24 ore su 24 il venerdì e gli ultimi giorni prima di Natale. C'è inoltre una catena di piccoli negozi, la 7-Eleven, dove è possibile acquistare cibo 24 ore su 24, 365 giorni all'anno.

Mangiare, bere e divertirsi:

I ristoranti inglesi chiudono abbastanza presto (intorno alle 22:00), ma quelli indiani, cinesi e gli altri ristoranti stranieri in genere sono aperti anche oltre la mezzanotte. E' facile trovare anche molti snack-bar americani o i diners che sono sempre aperti.

I pub chiudono alle 23:00 ma i club rimangono aperti anche fino alle 2:00 o le 3:00 di notte.

Cambiare valuta:

I turisti possono cambiare la loro valuta nelle banche, agli sportelli di cambio valuta, e tramite i distribuori automatici di moneta. Le banche, di solito, sono aperte dalle 8:30 o le 9:00 fino alle 16:30 o le 17:00 nei giorni feriali. Alcune filiali nel centro della città o nei centri commerciali sono aperte anche il sabato mattina.

Gli sportelli di cambio valuta all'interno degli aeroporti sono in genere sempre aperti, mentre quelli nel centro della città rimangono aperti anche fino a tarda notte.
